Pines & People: Human Impacts on 5-Needle Pine
The moment you’ve all been waiting for! WPEFC is pleased to advise that Early Bird registration for the Revelstoke, BC Science & Management Conference is now open!
We are stoked to announce that the 2023 WPEFC Science and Management Conference revelry will be held in Revelstoke, BC. This exciting conference is scheduled from Thursday October 12, 2023 through Friday October 13, 2023 at the Revelstoke Community Center (600 Campbell Avenue).
WPEFC is also planning two optional half-day field trips that bookend the conference. Conference days will be filled with fun and informative science and management talks, networking events, a poster session, and a public talk.
Do you have something to add? We are currently accepting presentation abstracts and poster applications. Contact the Science Planning Committee to submit a talk or poster applications until the 21st of June.

A complete Conference Schedule including hotels is in the works, the general outline of the conference looks like this:
- 11 Oct – Field day to visit the Kalamalka Research Station in Vernon, BC (3401 Reservoir Rd) for a tour of the Rust Inoculation and Screening Testing Facility, hosted by the BC Ministry of Forests. Tentatively from 1:00 – 3:30 pm. In the evening, meet up for a Brewery Tour / networking event in Revelstoke.
- 12 Oct – Day one of the Science & Management Conference in Revelstoke, BC. Featuring a dedicated poster session, silent auction, movie screening, public talk, and evening dance!
- 13 Oct – Day two of the Science & Management Conference in Revelstoke, BC. Featuring a Friday the 13th evening revel at Big Eddy’s Glassworks!
- 14 Oct – Join WPEFC on a private, guided tour of whitebark pine on the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, just west of Golden, BC

The annual conference brings together researchers, managers, students, and enthusiasts of whitebark pine and related high-elevation, forested ecosystems in Canada and the United States. Everyone is invited to attend. Early Bird registration is open now until June 30, 2023. If you are a non-member, one-year membership is included with your registration fee.
