Conference Travel Update

Are you coming to the Science & Management conference? Here are some travel considerations:
In terms of flying, Revelstoke recommends flying into Kelowna and driving. The weather is *usually* better, and this would also make it easier if you wanted to go on the first field trip in Vernon. The Calgary route would be another option which takes you through Banff. Driving through Banff is slow (max 80km/hr or 50miles/hr) through the park, crossing through the Rocky Mountains between Calgary and Revvie (longer but beautiful drive), but there’s major highway construction at Golden.
In terms of driving rather than flying, it really depends on what happens with the weather, which is hard to predict! Generally, unless there’s a weather event, autumn is often the best season to drive as volume has reduced. Having said that, one can expect snow in the passes & sometimes lower down. Ensure you have experience driving in the snow, are prepared, check the weather/highway reports, and bring precautionary equipment (ie. good snow tires, chains, phone, etc.)
